About us
Our aim is to develop and manufacture toys which can playfully interact with children and help them to listen and speak! We want to show parents or caregivers the milestones for speech, language and listening for children 1 – 6+ years of age in an enjoyable way.
Not so long ago parents had loads of time to sit and teach their kids familiar rhymes and songs and read long stories at bedtime. In our busy world today it is sometimes not always possible any more. Lingi will bridge this gap – he can speak and will grow in age with your child.
Our vision is to bring toys to you that is child friendly, nontoxic, not harmful, technologically advanced and age appropriate. We want children to learn words, animal sounds, rhymes, songs and stories during play. The toys should be colourful and interactive and encourage the child to use all his senses to learn.

LINGI™ was developed by a team of creative people with a passion for language, music, child development and electronics.
Business owner, Bertha Lewis, qualified as speech language therapist and audiologist at the University of Pretoria. She also obtained a post graduate qualification in education at Unisa and a Diploma in Hearing Aid acoustics at the University of Pretoria. Her passion is stories and she completed a general and youth literature writing course under the auspice of the acclaimed Janie Oosthuysen.
In Bertha’s own words: “I would love to see every child excited about stories, wanting to listen to stories and be able to retell the story afterwards. When I listen to parents and teachers they complain sometimes that children do not listen anymore and I believe storytelling, from a young age, can help our children. The English language has loads of lovely rhymes and songs that we listened to a children and which our children should learn as well. I hope Lingi can teach the children in a playful manner the value of listening!
Lingi is the product of a year’s development to select the right words, phrases, rhymes, songs and stories for children aged 1 – 6+ years. We believe that Lingi will inspire each child to listen to stories, sing songs and retell their favourite rhymes! ‘n Group of fantastic people worked together to let Lingi the superhero come to life!
